IT Desktop Support Specialist

Permanent, 37.5 Hours, Melmerby, North Yorkshire, Competitive Salary

This is a multi-skilled role involving working alongside a team as well as independently in a business critical role. A Desktop Support Specialist is primarily responsible for dealing with IT issues logged by users via the company’s helpdesk system.

MAIN DUTIES

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide support for Hemingways users and systems.
  • Administer Hemingways anti-virus, patching and door access system.
  • Administer users and groups in Hemingway’s systems.
  • Document IT systems and processes.
  • Provide advice and support to other IT team members.
  • Provide advice and support to other business areas and staff.
  • Inventory and hardware asset management.
  • Procure IT supplies and peripherals.
  • Carry out Portable Appliance testing.
  • Assist the Senior Support Specialists.
  • Positively promote the companies policies and standards.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

What competencies and skills are required?

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Excellent Communication skills- verbal and written.
  • GCSE English and Math Grade C or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft desktop system and applications, Active Directory, TCP/IP, switching, routing, smtp, proxy servers, DHCP and DNS.
  • Good organisational skills, time management and attention to detail.
  • Able to effectively work to tight deadlines.
  • Driving Licence and own vehicle.
